ANACOM decides to maintain maximum prices for CAM and inter-island circuits

On 6 July 2017, ANACOM decided to maintain the (maximum) prices applied to circuits connecting the Mainland, the Azores and Madeira (CAM) and inter-island circuits (in the Azores).  This is within the framework of the Leased Lines Reference Offer (LLRO) and the Reference Ethernet Leased Lines Offer (RELLO) and applies until the next annual review of these prices.

This revision of prices results from ANACOM's decision of 1 September 2016https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1395261 on the analysis of the wholesale market for high quality electronic communications at a fixed location (access and transit segments), which made MEO - Serviços de Comunicação e Multimédia (MEO) subject to the obligation to control prices, including the obligation of cost orientation of prices.

In order to verify compliance with this obligation, it was also determined in this decision to conduct an annual review of CAM and inter-island circuit pricing; for this purpose, MEO is required make cost data available on an annual basis (including costs of planned and executed maintenance and investment), along with data on capacity contracted by operators and service providers and reserved by MEO itself.

At the same time, approval was given to the report of the prior hearing and the public consultation to which the respective draft decision was submitted (draft decision of 20 April 2017https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1409940).
