Chair of ANACOM visits the Azores


The Chair of ANACOM, João Cadete de Matos, has visited the Azores to meet ANACOM's staff working in Ponta Delgada. He has also met with the President of the Regional Government of the Azores and participated in the “IX Ibero-Atlantic Conference on Regional Statistics”.

The objective of the meeting with the President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Vasco Alves Cordeiro, was to highlight concerns in matters within ANACOM's remit and to address issues of common interest, specifically the development of communications in the archipelago, the promotion of competition in the region and the submarine cable connection between the autonomous region of the Azores and the mainland. Discussions also focused on the difficulties of the region with respect to freight transportation, with reflections on the postal service. The meeting was attended by Nuno Miranda, Advisor to the President of the Regional Government of the Azores, Luis Anselmo, the head of ANACOM's delegation in the Azores, and ANACOM's Press Officer, Ilda Matos.

At the "IX Ibero-Atlantic Conference on Regional Statistics", held on 13 and 14 November in Angra do Heroísmo and Ponta Delgada, organised by the Regional Statistics Service of the Azores, the Chair of ANACOM gave a presentation on the development of communications in the Azores, from ANACOM's perspective.

On this occasion, a meeting was also held with the regional media.
