ANACOM has conducted 37 enforcement actions so far this year, in cooperation with Autoridade Marítima Nacional

Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM) has carried out 37 enforcement actions focusing on more than 170 fishing and recreational vessels since the beginning of the year in cooperation with AMN - Autoridade Marítima Nacional (National Maritime Authority). Four more enforcement actions are planned before the end of the year, taking place in close collaboration with the Navy and the Maritime Police - these still need to be confirmed, particularly because they depend on the state of the sea.

A total of 34 situations of non-compliance were identified at ports in Mainland Portugal, Azores and Madeira, of which 18 were detected in mainland ports, 11 in the Azores, one in the ports of Madeira, and four involving offshore vessels.

The most recent enforcement operation, under the cooperation protocol between ANACOM and Autoridade Marítima Nacional (National Maritime Authority), took place last Friday, 10 November, at the Coastal Fishing Port of Aveiro. The objective of this joint action was to inspect radiocommunications stations installed on board the vessels.

In the context of this operation, vessel inspections found stations/equipment on board whose use was not restricted to the fishing activity for which they are intended. One of these stations was seized, since, among other irregularities, it was not registered in the vessel’s station licence.

Operação de fiscalização no âmbito do protocolo de cooperação existente entre a ANACOM e a Autoridade Marítima Nacional, realizada a 10.11.2017, no Porto de Pesca Costeira de Aveiro.
