8th meeting of RSPG WG PMSE - October 2017

The French town of Maisons-Alfort hosted last 23-24 October the eighth meeting of the working group on the RSPG’s long term opinion concerning spectrum requisites for the future use and needs of applications in programme making and special events (PMSE) equipment, chaired by Austria and attended by eleven participants, including representatives of various administrations and the European Commission (EC).

At its 40th meeting on 8 June 2016 the RSPG approved the development of an RSPG opinion on PMSE, specifically a long-term strategy on spectrum requisites for future use and needs of wireless audio and video PMSE applications.

The EC wants the RSPG’s long-term opinion on PMSE to verify any expected impacts on PMSE services, bearing in mind changes in current use and the growing need to share spectrum use. It requested an assessment of strategic options in terms of spectrum access by wireless audio and video PMSE applications which can supply the quality of service necessary for PMSE applications.

This meeting basically focused on considering the comments received (a total of 17) concerning the proposed PMSE opinion, which was under public consultation from 4 August to 30 September 2017. The comments were all resolved and the proposed PMSE opinion will be submitted to the next RSPG meeting for final approval.
