In response to a number of queries which have arisen over the framework governing the operation of Weak Signal Propagation Reporter (WSPR) and OPERA radiobeacons, and without prejudice to a future adjustment of the regulatory framework, ANACOM makes it clear that while these uses are in every way similar to uses of stations of common use (as defined in the Decree-Law no. 53/2009 of 2 Marchhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=978436), they do not fall within the same legal category.
In this context, their use, under the responsibility of an amateurs’ association, requires authorisation from ANACOM, under paragraph 1 of article 14 of this Decree-Law.
