ANACOM alerts consumers to the requirements to be verified before purchasing radio and electronic communications equipment

As part of the World Consumer Day celebrations (celebrated on 15 March), ANACOM launched a leaflet listing the requirements that consumers should check before purchasing radio and electronic communications equipment, namely:

  • CE marking;
  • name and contact details of the manufacturer and/or importer;
  • declaration of conformity (in the case of radio equipment);
  • instructions in Portuguese;
  • indication of use restrictions (if any).

The leaflet also contains an illustrative list of the devices covered.

This initiative arises in the context of an increasing commitment by ANACOM to protect the interests of users of communications services. In the case of the information provided in this leaflet, ANACOM's goal is to protect the health and safety of consumers, as well as to prevent interference between devices.

The leaflet will be distributed in information actions organized by the Directorate General for the Consumer in several cities around the country between 6 and 26 March 2018, as part of the celebrations of that day. The first session was held on 1 March in Madeira.

ANACOM will attend the sessions taking place in Coimbra (13 March), Póvoa de Varzim (15 March) and Porto (26 March), when it will address the subject of distance contracts, in particular, the rules, rights and care required.

This leaflet will also be available in all Municipal Consumer Information Centers (CIAC) around the country.
