Winners of the Best Student Paper Award (2018 edition)


During the 12th Congress of the Portuguese Committee of URSI, Luísa Mendes, President of the Portuguese Committee of URSI, presented prizes to the winners of the Best Student Paper Award (2018 edition) – an award which aims to encourage young Portuguese authors.

First place was awarded to Solange Silva, a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Coimbra University for the work "Trapping light in open nanocavities with spatial dispersion".

Second place was awarded to Filipa Fernandes, from Instituto Superior Técnico (Higher Technical Institute), for the work "Simulation of MIMO channel for 5G in millimetre waves", and third place was awarded to Daniela Marques Godinho, from the Faculty of Sciences at Lisbon University, who submitted the paper "Classification of Microwave Imaging Signals to Assist Breast Cancer Diagnosis".
