Fourth meeting of the working group on the future of submarine cables for communications between mainland Portugal, the Azores and Madeira

The fourth meeting of the working group was held on 20 September 2019, at ANACOM's headquarters in Lisbon, to study and analyse the most suitable technical and financial configuration for the timely replacement of the submarine cables carrying communications between mainland Portugal, the Azores and Madeira (CAM).

This fourth meeting involved presentations and clarifications on the respective projects by the companies Open Cables, DEEPSEA and AICEP Global Parques (AGP), and was also attended by the Navy (Marinha in representation of the Estado Maior da Armada).

The working group members also provided clarifications and information about the developments that have occurred and discussed the next steps to be taken, including the need to identify possible technical configurations.

The working group made a joint reflection on the action to be taken to respond to its mandate, and also discussed the next steps, in which it considered the need to identify interconnection scenarios together with their estimated cost.

The next working group meeting will be held on 25 October 2019.
