How long is it since you last tested the quality of your Internet connection? ANACOM launches new features for the NET.mede app

In order to make it easier to diagnose the quality of Internet connections and measure Internet speed, ANACOM has redesigned the NET.mede application and the My NET.mede reserved area. The next time you perform a test with the NET.mede app or consult the results of the tests you perform with the app, in your My NET.mede area, you will enjoy a more intuitive user experience, with new features, in addition to a new graphical environment.

The NET.mede app has been completely redesigned and allows you to:

  • delineate your Internet connections in more detail;
  • personalise the names of the accesses/equipment on which you carry out your tests (for example, “my home”, “office”, as well as “my computer” or “my daughter’s tablet”);
  • better monitor the progress of the testing of the various parameters;
  • see a full test report and obtain examples of services that your Internet connection allows based on the values measured;
  • compare the result of the download speed measured in the test with the value specified under your contract.

In the new My NET.mede area, you will be able to:

  • consult the results of the tests you have performed for each access and item of equipment (based on the details you provide);
  • see a qualitative report, with examples of services that your Internet connection allows, based on the average values of the tests performed on the access, item of equipment and time period chosen;
  • consult the results of tests carried out over two years;
  • see the test results through interactive graphs, by days or by hours;
  • extract test results, in graphical or table format.

In order to take advantage of this new experience, it is necessary to update to the new versions of the app on the equipment you use for testing (computers, smartphones and tablets); enter a new password, since the criteria for their creation have been changed to improve the security of your data; authorise the processing of personal data, in accordance with the new privacy policy.

The NET.mede app is available for computers running Windows and MacOS operating systems, and for smartphones and tablets with Android and iOS operating systems. The various versions are available on the official service page at https://netmede.pt/apphttps://netmede.pt/app or in official stores.

In all versions of NET.mede, at the end of the speed tests, a report is presented showing the values of the measured parameters, as well as qualitative information giving indicative examples, based on the results, of uses and services that the tested connection allows, such as playing games on a network or making a video call.

For users who wish to obtain more exhaustive diagnoses, ANACOM recommends carrying out several tests over different days and times. For your convenience, the desktop version of the app allows you to schedule automatic tests. The information obtained through NET.mede can be an important element in managing the relationship of users with their operator, allowing them to question, in a more sustained way, the quality of the service provided.

In order for the user to systematically consult the results of the tests performed with the app, it is necessary to register when first accessing the app or the My NET.mede reserved area. Simply enter an email address, username and password. The same access credentials are used for both the app and My NET.mede.

It should also be noted that, since 2017, the NET.mede website has provided statistics on the results of speed tests carried out by users using the browser. In the future, statistics on the results of tests performed through the app may also be made available.

The first version of NET.mede was launched by ANACOM in 2013, and since then, more than 3 million tests have been carried out by users of the service.

The use of these diagnostic instruments also provides ANACOM with information that helps it to monitor the performance of the Internet access service.

As with the evaluation of the quality of mobile communications services, in relation to which a study on the Alentejo was released just a few days ago, the redesign of NET.mede forms part of a broader strategy implemented by ANACOM aimed at enhancing the information and the means for measuring quality of service made available to consumers.
