Migration of the DTT network started with a change of the Odivelas Centro transmitter

The Odivelas Centro transmitter has already moved from channel 56 to channel 35 in a process that marks the start of the migration of the DTT network, with a view to releasing the 700 Mhz band for 5G. With the change of the transmitter to the new frequency, people who receive their television signal from this transmitter were left without a picture on their televisions (a black screen), and had to tune their television or DTT decoder using the controls of the respective device.

The process is simple, but anyone requiring assistance may call 800 102 002, the free number provided by ANACOM for the purpose, which today and Thursday will operate between 9:00 a.m. and midnight. Thereafter, lines will be open every day between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

If people are unable to tune their TV or DTT decoder on their own or with the support of the call centre, ANACOM may schedule a visit by technicians to people's homes, to help tune the equipment. This service is free.

It should also be noted that it will not be necessary to replace or reorient antennas, change the television or the decoder; and nobody will have to subscribe to pay-TV services.

This information has already been distributed to 135,000 homes and commercial establishments in the areas potentially affected by the change in frequency of the Odivelas Centro transmitter: the entire municipality of Odivelas; the civil parishes of Lumiar, Carnide and Santa Clara, in Lisbon; and Encosta do Sol, in Amadora.

Since the 18th, ANACOM has promoted a roadshow in the region potentially served by the Odivelas Centro transmitter, to bolster the information provided to the population. The roadshow ends today, the day on which the transmitter changes, in the Merged Parishes of Ramada and Caneças. In the morning it was at Ramada, close to the Parish Council building, then it moved on to Caneças, where it will spend the afternoon, at the Jardim do Corte.

ANACOM has a video on its website and on the consumer portal explaining this process, as well as a set of frequently asked questionshttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=378618 regarding the DTT network migration process.
