ANACOM approves deduction from records of CTT shipments to and from the Azores affected by Hurricane Lorenzo


On 13 February 2020, ANACOM granted the request submitted by CTT - Correios de Portugal (CTT) for deduction of the records of shipments of:

a) postage of standard mail, standard orders and newspapers and periodicals published more than weekly, dispatched to or from the islands of the Central and Western groups of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (ARA), from 30 September 2019 to 2 October 2019 (inclusive); and

b) postage of priority mail, newspapers and periodicals with a periodicity published up to and including weekly and registered mail, dispatched from or to the islands of the Central and Western groups of ARA, on 1 and 2 October 2019 (inclusive);

directly affected by disruptions to air traffic in the airports of the ARA caused by hurricane Lorenzo, for the purpose of calculating the indicator of quality of service (IQS) values for September and October 2019.

ANACOM further determined that CTT should:

  • send ANACOM, when reporting for the year and fourth quarter of 2019, regarding the IQS encompassed by this decision, the information provided for in Article 8(1) and (3) of the Download file Parâmetros de qualidade de serviço e objetivos de desempenho associados à prestação do serviço postal universal no triénio 2018 - 2020 ''Quality of service parameters and performance targets associated with the provision of universal postal service for the 2018-2020 triennium'', calculated with and without deduction of the records referred to in the decision approved herein;

  • the information to be referred to ANACOM pursuant to Article 8(2) and (3), concerning the values for 2019 shall include, where applicable, information with and without deduction of the records referred to in this decision.

At the same time, the decision was taken not to hear CTT in the prior hearing, in conformity with the Administrative Procedure Code.
