The 95th meeting of CEPT’s WG FM took place last 10-14 February in Sliema, Malta, attended by nearly 100 delegates from 33 CEPT administrations, the European Commission (EC), European Communications Office (ECO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and other international organisations and companies, with Portugal represented by ANACOM.
Highlights included the proposals, approved at this meeting, in response to the first part (Part A) of two mandates from the EC, respectively concerning (i) the viability study and identification of technical conditions enabling wireless access systems including radio local area networks (WAS/RLAN) to operate in 6 GHz and (ii) the identification of spectrum for the future system of railway mobile communications.
The specific decisions made at this meeting are set out below.
a) Documents adopted to submit to the ECC for final approval and, as a general rule, for publication:
- Proposed CEPT Report A on WAS/RLAN in the 5925-6425 MHz interval (CEPT Report 73);
- Proposed CEPT Report A on the future railway mobile communication system (FRMCS);
- Proposed revision of ECC Decision (08)01 on intelligent transport systems (ITS);
- Proposal for a new ECC Decision (19)04 on Earth stations on board aircraft operating with GSO FSS networks and NGSO FSS systems in the frequency bands 12.75-13.25 GHz and 10.7-12.75 GHz;
- Editorial correction to ECC Decision (12)03 on UWB on board aircraft;
- Proposed new ECC Report 306 on low-power audio PMSE in 960-1164 MHz;
- Proposed modification of ECC Recommendation (08)01 on ITS;
- Proposed modifications to the CEPT Roadmap for 5G.
b) Documents approved by WG FM for publication (final approval of ECC Recommendations/ECC Reports that WG FM is responsible for):
- Revision of ECC Recommendation 15(01) on cross-border coordination for mobile/fixed communications networks (MFCN);
- Modification of ERC Recommendation 54-01 on the method of measuring the maximum frequency deviation of FM broadcast emissions in the band 87.5 to 108 MHz at monitoring stations;
- New ECC Report 305 on machine-to-machine/internet of things via satellite.
The group will next meet in June 2020.
