A videoconference meeting of CEPT’s Com-ITU was held last 30 June and 1 July, chaired by Reiner Liebler (BNetzA, Germany). It served to analyse an important set of documents for building European common proposals (ECPs) to submit to the next Wold Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly (WTSA-20) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and to report the Union’s current situation regarding preparations for that assembly.
A contribution on ‘new IP’ was prepared for presentation to the working groups of the ITU’s Telecommunication Standardisation Sector (ITU-T), in reaction to proposals originating in China which are considered to possibly aim for development of an autonomous internet alternative to the current one, with centralised control.
