ANACOM extends the validity of the precautionary measure to prevent unfair commercial practices, determined on 17.01.2020 under the ambit of DTT

By decision of 27 August 2020, ANACOM approved the validity of the precautionary measure to prevent unfair commercial practices, decided on 17 January 2020https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1501885, under the ambit of digital terrestrial television (DTT), until the 30th business day after the conclusion of the DTT network migration process.

This decision comes as a result of the need to adjust the validity of the previously approved precautionary measure to the scheduling of the DTT network migration process, which was suspended due to the constraints associated with the epidemiological situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. It was resumed with the retuning of the transmitter in Alter do Chão on 12 August and is expected to be completed by 18 December 2020.

This Authority believes that the reasons that led to the approval of the precautionary measure still exist and that all the requirements for extending its validity have been met. Thus, the precautionary measure shall remain in force for as long as the migration process takes, plus an additional period of 30 business days, in order to cover, in particular, the cases of DTT users with second homes, emigrants or anybody who, for any reason, including health reasons, is unable to resolve any difficulties related to retuning their receiver equipment.
