The Chairman of the ANACOM Board of Directors, João Cadete de Matos, has met Lithuania’s Tomas Lamanauskas, candidate to the post of Deputy Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations.
While at ANACOM, Mr Lamanauskas made a brief presentation setting out his vision of the ITU’s future and his motivation as candidate to the post of Deputy Secretary-General. He emphasised that, in this initial stage of his candidacy, his main purpose is to take note of the objectives that ITU member countries have for the Union and the expectations they have for his candidacy.
Mr Lamanauskas is presenting his candidacy at elections to be held during the next ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, scheduled to take place September/October 2022, in Bucharest. Elections will also be held to select the next General Secretary and select candidates for other positions and ITU bodies.
