eEurope 2005 Action Plan follow-up report

The European Commission disclosed, through the Communication ?Connecting Europe at high-speed internet: reviewing the eEurope 2005 action plan?, the eEurope 2005 Action Plan follow-up report.

This report concludes that, as a whole, both the Member-states and the candidate countries to the European Union (EU) have had a good performance in developing and expanding the seven areas which are considered to be a priority within the eEurope 2005 ? broadband, security, e-inclusion, e-government, e-learning, e-health, e-commerce.

The European Commission puts forward now a set of recommendations requesting the Member-states and the candidate countries to do their best so as to develop contents for broadband, digital TV and 3G communications and to encourage cooperation among themselves, within this scope, in order to avoid a digital gap.

Comments are requested to the Member-states on this Communication as well as their active participation in the analysis of the Action Plan evolution, which will take place during 2004.

The eEurope 2005 Action Plan, approved at the Seville European Council (June 2002), is the new information society development framework for the period 2002 to 2005.
