Portugal receives 5G QoE award in Lisbon city

Portugal received the MedUX Best 5G QoE Award https://www.canva.com/design/DAFbTVhCsNc/Itg9SoHApHjAIJnaEw80lg/view#8 for the quality of experience of 5G network users in the city of Lisbon.

According to the analysis of MedUX, a leading multinational company in monitoring and measuring user experience (Quality of Experience - QoE) and network quality, Lisbon stood out in first place in QoE, as well as in data and over-the-top (OTT) services, accessibility, games and 5G upload speed.

The award was presented to João Cadete de Matos, Chairman of ANACOM’s Board of Directors, in the presence of Mario Campolargo, Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Administrative Modernisation, during the Mobile World Conference 2023 https://www.mwcbarcelona.com/, a major event focusing on the global connectivity ecosystem, which took place in Barcelona between 27 February and 2 March 2023.

João Cadete de Matos stressed that this is an important award for Portugal and for Portuguese operators, stressing that it is the result of their investment, ahead of obligations that were imposed in the auction. ANACOM’s chairman also stressed that this type of analyses is also important for regulatory bodies, such as ANACOM, which conduct their own assessments.

“Our studies confirm this data and not only in Lisbon, in the capital. We perform studies in all municipalities and today we have 5G in 98% of Portuguese municipalities, which is very significant”, he explained, recalling that although Portugal was one of the last countries to conclude the spectrum auction, this was a highly participated process, in which a large amount of spectrum was assigned.
