Activity of ICP's Laboratories

/ Updated on 04.02.2002

ICP has data available for consultation regarding the activity of two of its laboratories: the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory (ECL) and the Radio Metrology Laboratory (RML), since the start of their activities in 1993 and 1999, respectively.

The ECL has been accredited since 1995, supporting industry and carrying out market control tests in order to check the conformity of electrical and electronic equipment. Tests are carried out on prototypes of industrial equipment (domestic appliances and portable tools) and on computing equipment and other items (monitors, keyboards, 'mouses', printers, loud-speaker).

The RML was accredited in 1999, and from 2000 onwards has provided calibrations to external clients. Its activity principally covers three types of equipment: radio analysers, measuring instrument (multimeters) and radio-frequency generators.

Both laboratories had their accreditations recently renewed by the Portuguese Institute for Quality (IPQ), in accordance with the norm NP EN ISO/IEC 17025.
