CPLP and AICEP meetings


Viseu hosted, on 15 June, a Ministerial Meeting of Post and Telecommunication Operators of the Portuguese Speaking Countries, within the framework of the Community of the Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), where it was discussed the contribution of the communications sector for the development of the Portuguese-speaking countries and for the construction of the information society, among other themes of common interest.

Similar to what happened in previous years, this Meeting was followed by the Assembly of the XII Forum of the Association of Postal and Telecommunications Operators of the Portuguese-speaking countries and Territories (AICEP), from 16 to 18 June, under the theme 'Communications and Development', which was attended several personalities from the communications area in the Portuguese-speaking territories. Within this scope, an exhibition with unpublished works of Portuguese plastic artists was inaugurated, an initiative of the Portuguese Communications Foundation (FPC).

Apart from the Assembly and the Forum, a high level meeting of the postal sector representatives was held, in order to prepare the Portuguese-speaking countries common strategy for next Universal Postal Union (UPU) congress, which will be held in Bucharest, in September.
