New regulatory framework to be reviewed only in 2005

/ Updated on 22.06.2004

The European Commission informed today that the first review to be made within the ?99 Review? was postponed to the end of 2005.

This first revision of the new regulatory framework for electronic communications includes, specifically, the Commission Recommendation 2003/311/EC of 11 February 2003, on Relevant Product and Service Markets within the electronic communications sector susceptible to ex ante regulation.

The delay in the transposition of the new regulatory sector package in several EU Member-states, the fact that market research at national level is still in a preliminary phase for most of the cases, as well as the recent enlargement of the European Union are the main reasons for this decision.
