PT SE 19 - Copenhagen

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

The 29th meeting of project team PT SE19 was held on 6-7 April in Copenhagen. This team focuses on fixed service (FS) matters, namely the preparation of harmonised FS frequency plans, the study of new technologies in this context, studies of compatibility with other services and co-ordination of European positions to submit in the scope of the Radiocommunications Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-R).

The following documents were revised at the meeting:

  • Draft ECC recommendation (04)05 ? a number of changes with respect to contiguous block assignment were made to the recommendation approved at the previous meeting;
  • Report 33 ? information on losses from indoor-outdoor penetration was added;
  • Recommendation ECC/REC 02-06 ? some countries suggested changing annex 2 of this recommendation, given the impossibility, in their opinion, of implementing the planning presented in the said annex. This request was due to the inexistence in the market of equipment with 310 MHz duplex separation. The proposal to quickly effect the said change was rejected, as there are a number of brands willing to begin offering such equipment.

Also discussed was sharing the 3.4-3.8 GHz band ? initially meant for fixed wireless access (FWA) ? with other services. This is a new working topic assigned to this PT by the Spectrum Engineering group (WG SE), which should give rise to a number of studies in this area.

Regarding the technical features of fixed service stations in the 1400-1427 MHz band, all the administrations have been asked to collect technical data from the stations in this band and to present it at the next meeting.

A total of 30 participants from 10 administrations were present.

The next meeting of this PT is scheduled for 10-11 May.
