With a view to revising the price baskets the OECD uses for its international price comparisons, the organisation met in Rome on 16-17 June together with the Teligen consultancy (which prepares and updates the baskets).
The working meeting especially focused on revision of the baskets for fixed telephony, the internet and leased lines. It also considered the possibility of updating the mobile baskets, but not from a structural perspective; the OECD rather prefers to wait until third generation mobile is more mature before proceeding to revise those baskets.
The OECD and Teligen expect the basket revision process to be completed at the end of 2005 and for it to be implemented from the first quarter of 2006.
