ECC PT SE7 - Geneva

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

The 26-27 October meeting in Geneva (Switzerland) of PT SE7 (responsible for land mobile service questions) focused on the subject of the drafting group for GSM mobile service aboard aircraft.

The meeting saw finalisation of the scenarios to study regarding the introduction of mobile terminals on board aircraft, as well as the key parameters for same. Also presented were results of the measures undertaken to verify/justify the range of attenuation values considered in the study.

Also noteworthy was the presentation of some results from simulations, specifically on the impact of aircraft-operated mobile terminal emissions on land stations in situations where the NCU (network control unit) component of the network is not present and/or disconnected, with the mobile terminals consequently emitting at maximum power. As expected, the results indicate substantial interference probability values.
