WP 6E - Geneva

WP6E (terrestrial broadcasting) of ITU-R held a meeting on 13-21 March in Geneva, chaired by the representative of the United States.

The meeting saw the approval of 28 documents, among which the following stand out:

- the preparation of a new question on measurement methods to verify and validate digital broadcasting planning procedures;

- the revision of Recommendation ITU-R BS.1660-1 ?technical basis for planning terrestrial digital audio broadcasting in the VHF band?, which introduces new lists for the protection of T-DAB interfered by DVB-T;

- the preliminary proposal for a new recommendation on interference in FM broadcasting service caused by very low power FM emitters;

- the proposal for a new recommendation on the use of broadcasting infrastructures (terrestrial and satellite) for announcements and warnings to populations in the case of major disasters or calamities. An example of the system as successfully implemented in Japan is presented in appendix.

WP6E also proceeded to examine various documents that will be put forward for approval during the next World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC07).
