ERO/ETO Joint Council - Copenhagen

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

The Councils of Administration of the European Radiocommunications Office (ERO) and the European Telecommunications Office (ETO) held a joint meeting on 4-5 May in Copenhagen, where the following decisions were made:

? Approval of the annual accounts and auditor's report for the year 2005;
? Regarding the issue of the pension fund of the office Director (Thormod Boe) and the expert (Darko Ratkaj), scheduled for this meeting, the Council decided to keep the respective decision confidential;
? Approval of the draft budgets and financial plans for the 2007-2009 period, which keep intact the financial contributions of the countries for the budget of both Councils, though indicating a 3 percent rise in costs;
? Regarding additional financing to maintain and update the EDSB database, it was decided to keep the amount requested by the ERO ''in reserve'' while waiting for RRC-06 to be held, which will clear up many aspects that should be revised in the respective database. It will later be up to the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) to confirm whether that amount should be effectively used to revise the database;
? Appointment of Mark Thomas (United Kingdom) as the next ERO Director;
? Announcement of the hiring of Alexander Gulyaev (Russia) as a result of the tender launched to replace the expert in regulatory affairs; regarding the eventual hiring of a full time expert on economic affairs, it was decided to postpone the decision, with the expectation of a more consolidated orientation on the subject;
? Information was provided on the main results achieved at the 12th CEPT Conference, as well as on the holding of the next Conference;
? A decision was made to evaluate the possibility of organising an audit of the ERO, with an auditing firm to be contacted to obtain more detailed information on same. A definitive decision on this subject will be made in December.

The Councils will hold their next joint meeting in ordinary session on 12-13 December 2006.
