WPIIS - Paris

The tenth meeting of the OECD working group on Information Society Indicators (WPIIS) was held on 3-4 May in Paris.

Basically, the following subjects were considered at the meeting:

? Measurement of safety and confidence in online environments;
? Reports covering work on information and communication technologies (ICTs) by invited countries;
? Classifications of ICT goods and services;
? Qualifications and professions in the ICT sector;
? Partnerships to measure ICTs in developing countries;
? The measurement of e-business;
? The ICTs, broadband and impacts on productivity.

Delegations from all the member States took part in the meeting, along with observers from the European Union, namely the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
