ECC WG SE - Roskilde

/ Updated on 31.07.2006

The 44th meeting of the Spectrum Engineering working group (WG SE) was held on 8-13 May in Roskilde, Denmark.

A number of documents were approved at the meeting, among them the report from the study on the compatibility of introducing UMTS in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands of the GSM system, and the co-existence between animal ULP-AID implants in the 12.5-20 MHz band with other radiocommunication systems.

Among others, the following were approved for public consultation: the report on the study concerning the introduction of GSM equipment on board aircraft in terrestrial networks, the study on the compatibility of earth stations on board vessels in the 5925-6425 MHz fixed service bands and a Recommendation on the introduction of BFWA in the 5725-5875 MHz band.

Worth of note is the creation of two new project teams (PTs): SE 41 and SE 42, covering the introduction of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) in 5 GHz (PT SE 41), and the study and analysis of the minimum requirements for radiocommunication systems and their impact on existing systems/services, for flexible bands (PT SE 42).

Lastly, the presentation of a preliminary report by the joint project team for broadband fixed wireless access (JPT BFWA) stands out. It is expected that the final report will be finished by this coming September, as per the mandate received by the European Commission.
