PT SE 19 - Vilnius

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

Vilnius hosted on 25-26 April the 35th meeting of project team (PT) SE 19, which covers fixed service (FS) matters.

The draft ECC report on the ''Compatibility of Earth Stations on Board Vessels Transmitting Within the Gaps in the CEPT Fixed Service Channel Plan for the Lower 6 GHz Band (5925-6425 MHz)'' was finished at this meeting and sent to the Spectrum Engineering working group (WG SE); it will be submitted for approval and placed in public consultation.

Regarding the studies on inter-service sharing in 3.5 GHz, some sections of the draft EDD Report ''Compatibility Studies in the Band 3400-3800 MHz between Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) Systems and Other Services'' were updated. The Portuguese administration contributed with a compatibility study to assess the impact of FWA (fixed wireless access) terminal stations on VSAT (very small aperture terminal) reception stations. A new chapter was created on mitigation techniques for BWA (broadband wireless access) systems, based on a proposal from the Dutch administration to use adjustable antennas in that system. Following the contributions of the French and British administrations, it was possible to update the FSS (fixed satellite service) section in the draft ECC Report.

A new working item was assigned to SE 19 by WG SE at its last meeting, which specifically aims to assess to what degree the conclusions of ECC Report 33 and ECC/REC(04)05 will be affected by the use of mobile BWA terminals (MWA). This should be completed by September 2006. Siemens and Motorola presented initial studies that were considered by the group, with work continuing to be produced by correspondence.
