Launch of a restricted consultation

Efforts have been carried out closely with the service providers of fixed and mobile telephony, including the respective Association, within the scope of Despatch MES no. 12809 (II Series), of 6 June 2000. Subsequent to these, the launch of a restricted consultation regarding the selection of the Reference Entity (RE) for Portability took place on 14th December 2000. The RE will be responsible for creating and running the Reference Data Base (RDB), which contains information on the portable numbers and with which service providers legally bound to implement and assure Operator Portability, may interact.

Such consultation will lead to the selection of a supplier that will carry out RE functions. This supplier will be responsible for the development, installation, testing, running, maintenance, management and updating of the RDB, which includes, among other information, the numbers for routing calls to ported numbers, the ported numbers and the transactions between service providers.
