Provision of public pay phones by the universal service provider - Report of the public consultation
Upon determination of April 4, 2002, the report on the results of the public consultation on the provision of public pay phones by the universal service provider, PT Comunicações (PTC), launched on March 12, 2001, was approved.
Simultaneously, under the terms of the same determination and in order to gain detailed knowledge on the characteristics of PTC's public pay phones, it was decided to request PTC to provide, within a maximum of 60 days, information on the identification of each public pay phone and alterations planned for the installed pay phones, including removals and establishment of new public pay phones, under the terms of no. 2 of article 46 of the Regulation for the Operation of the Fixed Telephone Service and no. 2 of article 23 of the Concession Contract.
Under the terms of article 5 of Decree-Law no. 458/99, of November 5, PTC was also requested to provide, within a maximum of 60 days, a proposal regarding the parameters and levels to be considered in the provision of this service, taking into consideration the results of the public consultation and ANACOM's understanding on this matter.
Finally, PTC was recommended to disseminate to entities representing population groups with special needs, a list of public pay phones suitable for use by such customers.
