Technical Committee 209 of CENELEC met on 9 June in Brussels, where the participants discussed issues concerning interference in cable and radio telecommunication networks in residences, offices, buildings, neighbourhoods and industrial areas that is related to TV, radio and interactive service signals.

Work on the densities of atmospheric discharges was studied, so as to devise a procedure that allows a procedure to protect antennas used for earth and satellite reception to be adjusted for each site, zone or country. The various parts of standard EN 50083, concerning cable networks for audio, television and interactive service broadcasting, are being revised and expanded.

The heightened interest in telecom infrastructures, whether via cable or radio and infra-red, for housing and business projects and industrial areas must be stressed, as they are subject to rapid development with respect to the new technologies.

The following standards were also considered: EN 300386 - Telecommunication Network, EN 301489 - Radio Equipment, EN 55013 - Radio and Receivers and EN 55083 - Cable TV Equipment.
