Public consultation on the ENUM service

By determination of 11 January 2007, the following was approved:

1. The public consultation report on the ENUM service, which was launched following the determination of 23 February 2006.

2. To propose to the member of the Government responsible for the communications area the appointment of ANACOM, being the Portuguese Administration in the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T), as Tier 1 Manager of the "1.5.3.e164.arpa" domain, on account of its being responsible for the management of the international country code (351) allocated by ITU-T; for all due purposes, such appointment shall entail: the decision to participate in ENUM; the designation of ENUM Tier 1 Registry; the establishment of a course of action for the ENUM Tier 1 Registry as regards the delegation of domains to ENUM Tier 2 Nameserver Provider.

3. The promotion by ANACOM, in conjunction with other entities, of a working group on ENUM that assesses the conditions for the implementation of ENUM in Portugal, including the setting up of a pilot scheme on this issue.

4. To propose the conclusion of a protocol for the operation of the ENUM pilot scheme in Portugal to the Fundação para a Computação Científica Nacional (FCCN - National Scientific Computing Foundation), in a way yet to be defined, where the FCCN would be granted operational responsibilities of ENUM Tier 1 Registry for the management of "1.5.3.e164.arpa" within this pilot scheme.
