ANACOM discusses Mobile TV - 9 July, Aveiro


ANACOM - Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações is holding a workshop on ''Mobile television: technology and information of the future''. The event, being held in collaboration with DigiTag, is to take place on 9 July in the Culture and Congress Centre in Aveiro.

Mobile TV brings together two of the most popular products of all time: TV and the mobile phone. It is a service that has woken immense interest in the industry and it is believed that television will be the driving force behind mobile phone demand over the coming years.

More than just another way of watching TV and enjoying TV and audio services, Mobile TV makes it possible to access any content, at any time and from any place.

Consumers, operators, equipment manufacturers, content providers and regulators now face a whole new set of challenges.

The networks and systems that will serve mobile TV, the content and services that can be provided, as well as the business model for this new reality will be the subjects up for debate on 9 July.

Among the speakers at the workshop will be Peter MacAvock of DVB Forum; Peter Bury, Director of Strategic Resources, OFCOM; Roland Brugger, Head of Frequency Management, IRT - Institut Rundfunktechnik; Alex Mestre Molins, Strategic Marketing Manager, Albertis Telecom; Anna Herold, European Commsiison; Olivier Blondeau, Director of Convergence and Standardisation of Mobile TV, Orange; Xosé Barreira, Bren Entertainment; Guino Alberico, RAI - Radiotelevisione Italiana; Pirre Marchal, Qualcomm's Media FLO Tecnhologies; and Bosco Eduardo Fernandes, Chairman of UMTS Forum and GSMA Joint Mobile TV Group. Daniel Sauvet-Goichon and Edgar Wilson of DigiTAG will also be present.

The chairman and vice-chairman of ANACOM, José Amado da Silva and Alberto Souto de Miranda will also be participating in the event, along with the Minister of Public Works, Mário Lino and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Augusto dos Santos Silva.

Participation in the workshop is open to all interested members of the public, but prior registration is required.
