Technical Committee 106x - Madrid

/ Updated on 14.05.2008

Madrid hosted last 2 April the 25th meeting of CENELEC Technical Committee (TC) 106x.

The following stood out at the meeting:

  • CENELEC has strengthened its European aspect, changing its website (wwww.cenelec.euhttps://www.cencenelec.eu/about-cenelec/) and email addresses (info@cenelec.eumailto:info@cenelec.eu);

  • There is a possible future conflict between the IEC 62232 standard and the standards of the CENELEC base stations, specifically in the frequency band - a decision was made to inform the Technical Board and a suggestion made for the parallel procedures to be delayed so that the standards' scopes can meanwhile be aligned;

  • A document from the United Kingdom's national committee informs of the possibility of duplication and contradiction in the Electromagnetic Fields (IMF) standards of International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) and CENELEC committees, whereby TC106x should conduct a survey of work in this area and propose co-operation between the two organisations;

  • It was reported that the European Commission sent to Parliament a proposal on postponing implementation of Directive 2004/40/EC (Directive on the Protection of Workers from the Potential Negative Effects of Electromagnetic Fields);

  • Regarding co-operation with the Telecommunication Conformity Assessment and Market Surveillance Committee (TCAM), amendments were prepared for standards EN 50400 and EN 50401, using the limits as instructed in M/305, based on Directive 1999/519/EC;

  • The guidelines from the International Commission on Protection from Non-Ionising Radiation (ICNIRP) in static magnetic fields are being revised - CENELEC has been asked to comment on the implications of the standards already published and in the voting process;

  • The work of various groups (WGs) was presented - TC 106x disbanded WG3, WG4 and WG7.
