Strasbourg hosted last 16-17 April the 14th CEPT Conference, dedicated to the theme topic of ''Technology and Regulation''.

This initiative of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) jointly organised by the European Radiocommunication Office (ERO) and the European Commission (EC) discussed the various forms of sector regulation in Europe and the world (on this point, with speeches by representatives from the United States of America, Australia and South Africa).

The strategy currently under debate on CEPT's future role and its relationship with the EC, the new European Union sector regulatory framework (2010 Review), the shortage - given growing needs - of spectrum and the ownership rights of same, flexibility in spectrum management and use, neutrality of technology and services, results of the United Kingdom's consultation on licence exemption, re-farming, wireless access regulation, broadband and WiMAX, fixed-mobile convergence, the harmonised European 116 000 code, prospects resulting from the last World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-07) with a view to better communications regulation, or uncertainty in the European scenario regarding the digital dividend, were some of the theme topics discussed at the conference.

CEPT is currently composed of 48 member States.
