An International Conference on the Universal Service has been scheduled for 18 September 2008, taking place in the Large Auditorium of Culturgest, situated in the Caixa Geral de Depósitos head office building in Lisbon. This is the second event of this type which has been organised by ANACOM.
The Conference comes at a time when the universal service of the communication sector is the focus of a lot of attention and reflection at a national and community level, in the context of the review of the framework for electronic communication sector, currently underway at a community level, and the liberalisation of the postal market due in 2011.
In this context, ANACOM is organising this Conference to provide an opportunity to debate the key issues being addressed at a national and community level with respect to the universal service of electronic communications and the universal postal services, as well as the protection of users in these markets. The debate will be led by a broad panel of national and international figures from the sector, brought together for this purpose.
