Portugal has presented the candidacy of José Manuel Toscano, currently Director of External Relations of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), to the position of General Director of this organization. This candidacy is made according to the order of the Minister of Public Works, Transportation and Communications of 15 February 2008.
The leader of the Organization, who will succeed the current Director General, Ahmed Toumi, will be elected at the next Assembly of Parties, which will take place in Estoril, Portugal, from 6 to 10 October 2008.
