Johannesburg hosts WTSA from 21 to 30 October

The latest World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly (WTSA) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) opened on 21 October in Johannesburg (South Africa), continuing until 30 October.

The objective of this event, which is organised by the Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) and takes place every 4 years, is to set out the general policy and procedures of the ITU-T. According to article 18 of the Constitution and article 13 of the ITU Convention, the WTSA is also charged with reviewing the working methods of the Sector, in particular, the approval process, the work programme and the structure of Study Committees, including their chairs and vice-chairs.

In line with the previous assembly, WTSA-08 will be preceded by a Global Standardization Symposium (GSS), which takes place today (October 20), in the same venue.
