ANACOM has endorsed the proposals of the review committee in respect of the public tenders for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), whereby PT Comunicações has been awarded the frequency usage rights associated with Multiplexers A and B to F.
Therefore, in the public tender for the allocation of frequency usage rights on a national and part-national basis for the digital terrestrial broadcasting service (Multiplexers B to F), opened on 25 February 25, 2008, to which two competitors, Airplus Television Portugal, S.A. and PT Comunicações, S.A. were admitted, ANACOM, by determination of 16 October 2008, approved the proposal of the review committee. Likewise, on the same date, approval was granted to the allocation of frequency usage rights to PT Comunicações, S.A., as the competitor having achieved the highest score.
On the same day, the Regulatory Authority for the Media (ERC) endorsed the proposal for the allocation of the distribution operator license to PT Comunicações, which now has 10 working days to raise the value of the bond to €2,500,000, as required by article 16 of the Tender Regulation. ANACOM and the ERC, in turn, following a period of 25 working days will issue the respective title of allocation of frequency usage rights and the authorisation title with respect to the status of distribution operator.
Regarding the tender for the allocation of a usage right on a national basis for digital terrestrial television broadcasting services (Multiplexer A), opened on 25 February, to which only the tender of PT Comunicações was admitted, on 20 October 2008 the committee approved the final report of analysis and consideration of the application, which, after being submitted to ANACOM, was endorsed on the same date.
PT Comunicações again has a period of 10 working days to raise the value of the bond to €2,000,000, in accordance with the provisions of article 17 of the Tender Regulation, whereas the corresponding allocation title of the frequency usage right should be issued by ANACOM within a period of 15 working days following the raising of the bond.
