Consultation on NFAP revision

By determination of 15 October 2008, ANACOM decided to launch a consultation of a draft revision of the National Frequency Allocation Plan (NFAP).

In addition to a few editorial amendments, this new version of the NFAP updates the allocation table according to the results of the World Radiocommunication Conference 2007 (WRC-07) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the use of frequency bands by reference to April 2008 and equipment exempt from licensing, includes a set of bands for military management, detection systems, monitoring and acquisition of data and also wireless systems for medical applications.  It includes also the provision of spectrum for several services and establishes an independent annex for “Equipment/Systems using ultra wideband (UWB) technology”.

Given its significant impact on the market, this draft review has been submitted to the general consultation procedure, provided for in article 8 of the Electronic Communications Law, and to “ANACOM Consultation Procedures” approved by determination of 12 February 2004, interested parties having been granted 20 working days to assess the issue. The deadline for reception of comments, which must be sent preferably by email to consulta.qnaf@anacom.pt, thus expires on 19 November 2008.

Once the consultation procedure has been completed, received replies shall be disclosed in this website. For this reason, interested parties are requested to clearly state any elements deemed to be confidential.
