Plenary of the European Regulators Group - Dublin

Dublin hosted a plenary meeting of the ERG last 9-10 October. Highlights included presentation of the first proposed response to the Commission recommendation on next generation accesses (NGAs) and of reports on mobile terminations. The following documents were also presented: ''ERG Common Position on Geographic Aspects of Markets Analysis'', changed per the corresponding public consultation; and ''Draft Report on Regulatory Accounting in Practice as per 2007'', reflecting the different costing methodologies used in the different member States.

Brief information was provided about relations between the ERG and the Radio Spectrum Policy Group (RSPG); a working programme is being developed to focus on the relationships between spectrum management and competition (market definitions and spectrum use as market power). A presentation was also given on the project team’s work in the area of costing methodologies that can serve as basis for the SMS roaming regulation. For its part, the proposed working programme for 2009 presented at this meeting will be submitted to public consultation.

The next plenary meeting will be held in Budapest this coming 4-5 December.
