Use of CLI in the origination of calls - clarification

Subsequent to various questions put by the companies which offer electronic communication services with regard to the type of content and information which may be included in CLI (Calling Line Identification) information, ANACOM has decided that it should clarify, specifically, that the network information contained in the ''Calling Party Number'' parameter, of the network signalling and the access signalling, should identify the access of the originator of the call (network termination point or application - e.g. VoIP), whereby the operator/provider of the number is obliged to validate the information, where it is provided by the user.

In the case of calls to national emergency services, this information is used, when possible, to identify and ascertain the location of the origin of the call, whereby reliability needs to be ensured. The information contained in the CLI should also enable the return of the call to the place or terminal of origination.
