The French city of Maisons-Alfort hosted last 23-25 September the second meeting of CPG PTD the group preparing European positions for the 2011 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-11) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The briefs for each one of the WRC-11 agenda items under the group's responsibility were updated there, with the inclusion of preliminary positions of the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the EUMETNET network of European weather services.
Noteworthy were the issues concerning satellite aeronautic mobile service (AMS(R)S), especially the need to make the spectrum requirements for UAS (unmanned aerial systems) more clear, and issues associated to the digital dividend band, 790-862 MHz, namely the criteria for sharing between mobile service, broadcasting service and aeronautic radionavigation service, where most administrations seek to protect broadcasting service based on the criteria set out in the Geneva Agreement during the Regional Radiocommunication Conference (GE-06).
