Quarterly Barometer of Electronic Commerce in Portugal, - 3rd Quarter 2008, ACEP and Netsonda, December 2008


This barometer, carried out by ACEP - Associação do Comércio Electrónico em Portugal (Association of Electronic Commerce in Portugal) and by the company Netsonda, is provided with the aim of gauging the evolution of the business and the main trends of electronic commerce in Portugal. The barometer is carried out from the supply perspective with the sample chosen including some of the most representative companies of the sector. It covers the most varied business models and reflects a large variety of economic sectors.

According to the findings of the study, carried out between 29 October and 10 December 2008, 80% of the websites surveyed reported an increase in Internet sales volumes compared to the same period of the previous year, as well as an increase in the number of customers making purchases online, with 24.1% reporting an increase in customers in excess of 50%.
