Relations between Portugal and the Netherlands are governed by a protocol on information exchange and cooperation between the postal and telecommunications administrations of the two countries. This protocol was established in February 1993 between the Ministry of Transport and Public Works of the Netherlands and Portugal's then Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal (ICP).
Currently, as with other EU countries, relations are close, but rather informal, with most of meetings between the two countries designed to coordinate positions at an international level or in areas of spectrum and radio frequency management.
