Over the course of today and tomorrow, the XVII Forum of the Association of Postal and Telecommunications Operators of the Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories (AICEP) is taking place in Madeira. Meanwhile, the General Assembly of the Association, of which ANACOM is an institutional member, took place yesterday.
The General Assembly elected the new governing bodies and discussed and voted on the accounts of 2008 and the respective report of activities, as well as the budget and business plan for 2009.
The XVII AICEP Forum, focusing on the subject ''i-com Generation'' (an expression which refers to the Internet generation, the future customers of communications), will involve discussions on the following topics: ''Regulation of Communications: Symmetries and asymmetries between Post and Telecommunications'', ''Communications Industry: responding to future customers of the i-com generation'' and ''Communications: Tomorrow?''.
During this event, the 2008 Portuguese Communications Foundation Prize will be handed out, awarded to Jorge Carlos Almeida da Costa, a member of ANACOM's staff, for the work, ''Factors of take up of fixed broadband and implications for policies for the promotion of the Information Society.''
