The European Communications Office begins functions

The Convention for the establishment of the European Communications Office (ECO) enters into force on 1 July 2009. This Office takes over the former responsibilities and duties of the European Telecommunications Office (ETO) and the European Radiocommunications Office (ERO).

The ECO is a specialist secretariat in issues related to the postal and electronic communications sectors, providing assistance and advice to the Presidency and Committees of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT).
