Yesterday saw the celebration of World Standards Day. In a joint initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), commemorations to mark the day will focus on the issue ''Tackling climate change through standards''.
The day was also marked by the European Commission with a conference on “European Standardisation for the next decade” which will debate the work of Express, the Expert Panel for the Review of the European Standardisation System.
The conference will feature 3 panel debates on key themes:
- European standardisation in the changing global context;
- The needs of competitiveness and public and societal demands;
- Moving towards 2020: changes in European standardisation structures and capabilities.
