Update to the technical specifications of radio interfaces


ANACOM has decided, by determination of 3 November 2009, to update the technical interface specifications applicable to certain categories of radio equipment, including short-range devices (SRD), stations of the amateur service, the aeronautical radionavigation service , the maritime radionavigation service, fixed service, the fixed-satellite service, aeronautical mobile service, the maritime mobile service, mobile satellite, land mobile service and the broadcasting service.

In compliance with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 58/2000 of 18 April, these specifications have been notified to the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ), the entity responsible for submitting them to the European Commission.

In accordance with Decree-Law No. 192/2000 of 18 August, which give approval to regime governing the free circulation, placing on the market, and putting into service in Portuguese territory of radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment as well as the regime of their conformity assessment and marking,  operators of public telecommunications networks are required to provide ANACOM with accurate and adequate technical specifications of all interfaces offered by them before the services provided through such interfaces are made publicly available.

Furthermore, according to the provisions of paragraph 5 of article 30 of the same law, it is incumbent upon ANACOM to publish and update the technical specifications of these interfaces in order that they are easily accessible to interested parties, inserting a notice in the 3rd series of the Official Journal (Diário da República) regarding the form and means by which such publication will be carried out.
