2. Representation of the sector and co-operation at national level

ICP-ANACOM has in the course of its duties co-operated with several national entities. This has among other goals focused on developing social projects based on communications services and stimulating initiatives of a sectorial nature in the areas of communications and standardisation.

ICP-ANACOM thus participates in several national institutions, such as associations, foundations and other entities, which in most cases involve the payment of an annual fee. Beyond the aforementioned institutions, there are others with which ICP-ANACOM co-operates via specific partnerships, formalised namely by co-operation protocols signed at the level of its Board of Administration, which do not include a regular financial contribution.

The following protocols were signed in 2002:

  • Protocol to establish a CyberCentre in the city of Faro, for practical demonstration and encouragement of the use of information, communications and multimedia technologies, primarily targeting the youth and student population, signed by the State Secretariat for Youth and Sports, and the Faro Municipal Council;
  • Protocol to carry out a survey on the use of information and communication technologies by families in 2001, signed with the National Statistics Institute;
  • Partnership protocol with the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ) for development of the draft National Customer Satisfaction Index (ECSI-Portugal) for the communications sector, in the scope of the ECSI-Europe (European Customer Satisfaction Index) project.

ICP-ANACOM also financed diverse projects in 2002, including the CyberCentres in Covilhã, Guarda, Guimarães and Bragança, 15 Citizens? Attendance Posts (CAPs), the Millennium Generation programme and telecom programmes of the European Space Agency (ESA).

Also regarding the duties set out in its statutes, concerning collaboration with other public and private entities, proposals received in the context of institutional publicity and the sponsorship requests are subject to thorough processing by ICP-ANACOM. Follow-up on the associated actions is undertaken to assure realisation of the corresponding returns.
